Write On Calligraphers, a non-profit organization since 1978, is a group of Northwest artists who share a love of letters and the paper arts.
Regular meetings offer special presentations of interest to calligraphers and paper arts enthusiasts. Meetings take place at Frances Anderson Center in Edmonds, WA, on the second Tuesday evening of January, March, May, September, and November.
Meetings are open to the public at no charge.
Members of Write On Calligraphers enjoy special benefits, such as advance information on upcoming events for calligraphers and paper arts enthusiasts, and discounts on workshops and conferences.
Members also enjoy access to an extensive library collection containing over 300 select books, tapes, slides, and periodicals related to lettering and the paper arts.
Every spring, the group sponsors Letters of Joy, a popular one and a half day mini conference that regularly attracts over 325 participants and vendors. The conference and accompanying exhibit are dedicated to the memory of Kathleen Joy O'Brien whose passion for letters helped to establish the dedicated calligraphic community that now flourishes in Edmonds and its surrounding areas.
Throughout the year, Write On Calligraphers sponsors workshops conducted by renowned calligraphers and paper artists. Annie Cicale, will teach a workshop on Carolingian hand. The workshop will be held on November 5 & 6, 2009 at Art Works.
